What a Daily Production Report (DPR) Actually Records
A Daily Production Report — DPR — is the single document that records what a shoot day actually delivered against what was planned: scenes completed, pages shot, setups, time lost and why, call and wrap times, weather, and notes carried forward to the next day. It's the record a line producer, production office, or financier relies on to know whether a shoot is on schedule and on budget, day by day.
Traditionally the DPR is filled out by hand at the end of every shoot day, cross-referencing the planned schedule against what actually happened — a task that becomes more valuable the more consistently it's kept, since a string of DPRs is the closest thing a production has to a real-time schedule and budget health check.

Why does the DPR matter for a financier or producer?
A string of DPRs is the clearest real-time signal of whether a production is on schedule and on budget — repeated lost time or incomplete scenes flag risk early, before it compounds into a much larger problem near the end of the shoot.
