Why not just use ChatGPT or Claude?
Why would I pay for this when ChatGPT can write me a call sheet?
It can, and it will look like one. The difference shows on the second document. In a chat window you re-paste your scenes, cast, locations and schedule every single time, the layout drifts between generations, and nothing checks that day 4's call sheet agrees with the schedule it came from. Here the call sheet is generated from the shooting schedule, which came from the breakdown, which came from your screenplay — so the documents agree by construction rather than because you re-typed carefully. For open-ended thinking, though, a chat assistant is genuinely the better tool, and we say so on the comparison page.
How is this different from Claude?
Claude is excellent at long-form drafting and at giving thoughtful structural feedback on a script — better than a lot of purpose-built coverage tools, in our honest view. If you're using it for writing, keep doing that. The handover point is when the script locks: production runs on a set of documents that must agree with each other and arrive in formats a department head can open — stripboards, Day-Out-of-Days, call sheets, budgets that reconcile. That needs a persistent project canon and validated, exportable artifacts rather than excellent prose.
What actually gets checked before I see output?
Deliverables that are assembled before they reach you — breakdowns, schedules, budgets — are validated against a schema contract, and malformed text like a broken Fountain screenplay is repaired rather than handed over. Output that streams to you live as it is written does not get those passes, because there is no finished deliverable to check yet; that covers Fast tier by default and some longer narrative features on Standard. Premium never streams, so it is the one tier where every generation goes through the whole pipeline, including the continuity and contradiction passes that check against your project's own facts. When a check is shed for time, that's recorded rather than hidden. None of this guarantees error-free output — no generative system can — but it's the difference between something that reads well and something a department head will accept.
Pricing & credits
Is The Story Maker a subscription?
No — it's pay-as-you-go credits, not a recurring subscription. You start with 2,500 free credits (no card required, valid 365 days) and top up only when you need more.
What happens if a generation fails?
The credits for that generation are refunded automatically. You're never charged for a failed AI run.
What's the difference between Fast, Standard, and Premium?
They're generation-quality tiers you pick per run: Fast is a quick single-pass draft (1.0× credits), Standard maintains full continuity with everything you've written so far (1.5×), and Premium maximizes depth and consistency (2.5×). Use Fast to test structure, Premium when you're ready to lock a scene.
Languages & currencies
Which languages can I write in?
17 languages generate natively: 10 Indian languages (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Punjabi, Odia) and 7 global languages (English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese).
Is the app interface itself translated?
The dashboard and editor are currently English-only by design. What's native to your language is the generated content itself — your screenplay, the First AD agent's conversation, and the marketing pages. "Create in your language" describes this correctly; a fully translated dashboard is on the roadmap, not shipped today.
What currency does pricing show in?
110 currencies are supported for budgets, rates, and pricing display, so you're not stuck converting from USD or INR by hand.
Exports & lock-in
Can I export my screenplay to Final Draft?
Yes — screenplays export to FDX (Final Draft) and Fountain, alongside PDF and Word. If you need to hand a draft to a collaborator on different software, or leave the platform entirely, your work goes with you.
Do I have to start a project from scratch?
No — there are three entry points: start from a logline, upload an existing script, or walk through the guided Project Wizard for a full concept.

Is there a mobile app?
Not currently — The Story Maker runs in your browser on desktop and mobile web. There's no dedicated iOS or Android app today.
How many tools does the platform include?
35 tools across the full production lifecycle — story development, generative art, pre-production, production, post-production, and marketing/distribution.
